Mullen stresses Kashmir solution

Islamabad, July 26, 2010: Top US military Commander Adm. Mike Mullen has said that America recognizes consequences of regional challenges and Kashmir amongst them is a real challenge for Pakistan and India to resolve.

“We recognize consequences of regional challenges and Kashmir is a challenge for Pakistan and India to resolve. Political leadership has to reach out and engage with these difficult problems including Kashmir” Mullen said in an interview with a private TV channel.

Chairmen of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said the recent dialogue between Pakistan and India is an important step and more talks are important. He said he listened to Pakistani leadership and Pakistan is very focused that India is a threat while the Indian leadership to whom he spoke told him that Pakistan need not worry from India. He admitted that India has a very large military and there are forces on both sides of the international border between the two countries. .—INP
